Police apprehend individual after shelter-in-place order issued for Kejick Bay

Police apprehended an individual on July 18 in Kejick Bay, Lac Seul First Nation, who may have posed a threat to public safety.
Earlier that morning, Ontario Provincial Police issued a shelter-in-place order for residents of Kejick Bay, stating that, “Officers from LSPS and the OPP are currently searching for one individual who is believed to be armed and dangerous.”
Police shared later that day that, “the armed and dangerous person at large in Kejick Bay has been apprehended.” The shelter-in-place order was lifted at that time.
Police informed, “An extensive search and investigation were immediately launched, involving LSPS (Lac Seul Police Service) officers, Sioux Lookout OPP officers, OPP Emergency Response Team members, and Canine units. Police were able to apprehend the individual without any harm to the public or law enforcement.
“The OPP would like to thank all members of the public for their cooperation during this investigation. The safety and security of our community is our top priority, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that all residents feel safe and protected. We are also grateful for the hard work and dedication of our officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our community safe.”
Police say their investigation remains ongoing.
