Police investigating sudden death in Lac Seul First Nation

Ontario Provincial Police are assisting members of the Lac Seul Police Service in an investigation into the death of a 35-year-old person.
Police shared that on January 2 Lac Seul Police Service requested the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) into a sudden death that occurred at a residence on Lac Seul First Nation.
Police report the deceased has been identified as Michael Sawanas of Sandy Lake First Nation, Ontario.
“Officers of the Sioux Lookout OPP, in conjunction with the OPP North West Region Crime Unit under the direction of Acting Detective Inspector Karl Duewel OPP Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. There is no public safety concerns at this time,” a news release issued by the OPP informed.
