Question of the week:
How are you planning to use the skills you have learned through the Sioux Lookout Area Aboriginal Management Board’s carpentry program?
Scott Meekis
Learner from Sandy Lake First Nation
I just want to go back to my reserve, Sandy Lake First Nation and teach my people what I learned here. I want to get my Red Seal first. I have a deep passion for my people and I’d like to see big residential buildings and big duplexes and stuff like that to house people in my community because they lack housing.
Michael Goodman
Learner from Sandy Lake First Nation
There are barely any Red Seal carpenters in my reserve and I just like the feeling of accomplishing something and finishing it.
Tristan Koro-Glen Beardy Korobanik
Learner from Muskrat Dam First Nation
There are not a lot of carpenters (in my community), they’re getting old and everyone’s going into tech and we need builders. I enjoy building though. I love doing it. Building this (duplex) was fun, and now we’re living in it.
Daren Hudson
Learner from Big Trout Lake First Nation
For me to come here is to learn more things and experience so I can help with my community and to better myself.
