Registration is now open for the 2023 Sioux Lookout Mixed Slo-Pitch League.
The league underwent a revitalization last season under new league coordinators Jeremy Caul and Kayla Beck.
Caul said it was great to be able to revive the league following government-imposed restrictions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, “We had a good mixed of seasoned teams that had been in the league prior, as well as couple of new teams in 2022.”
Some drop-in slo-pitch was able to take place in 2021. No slo-pitch was able to take place in 2020.
Caul and Beck said 10 teams took part in the league last season with many teams having large roosters to cover for players who might have to miss the occasional game due to work or personal commitments. They estimate between 150-300 players played mixed slo-pitch last year.
“I think everybody was pretty happy it was back up and going again,” Beck said, “People were happy to be back playing slo-pitch.”
Teams were split into A-side and B-side divisions during the playoffs based on skill level.
Last year’s A-side winners were the Hose Hounds. Last year’s B-side winners were The Misfits.
Caul and Beck thanked everyone who participated last year.
A fundraising registration BBQ is scheduled for May 25 at the Pavilion at the baseball diamonds from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for teams to sign up for the 2023 season. Registration is $600 per team.
