Memo Reveals NDP-Liberal Plan to Legalize Hard Drugs Across Canada
After nine years, this NDP-Liberal government’s reckless experiment of legalizing hard drugs has devastated our communities. Since 2015, Canada has experienced a 184% increase in drug deaths.
Yet, in a newly released memo from the NDP-Liberal government, it has been confirmed that they have a plan for “national decriminalization.” This means that they want to legalize hard drugs right across the country.
In British Columbia, where they began their legalization experiment, the province saw a 400 percent increase in drug overdose deaths, with 2,500 Canadians tragically dying in the first year of this experiment. The situation became so desperate that the NDP Premier of BC had to ask the federal government to walk back this experiment before more lives were needlessly lost.
It’s clear that the NDP-Liberal government has not learnt from their fatal mistakes. The Minister of Addictions, Ya’ara Saks, has refused to admit that this experiment has been a failure, and now, this NDP-Liberal government memo has revealed that they are planning a national hard drug legalization program to replicate their disastrous experiment from BC across the country. 
The memo prepared for Minister Saks said that the government is willing to “use all tools at our disposal,” including “national decriminalization.” On top of this, the memo stated that “our government is committed to working in partnership with any jurisdictions that have a comprehensive plan for the decriminalization of possession of small amounts of substances for personal use.”
As a direct result of the NDP-Liberal hard drug legalization experiment, drug overdoses became the leading cause of death for children in BC between the age 10 to 18. It also led to rampant open drug use in playgrounds, public spaces, and even hospitals. This cannot be allowed to happen anywhere else in Canada. Extending this program to communities across Canada is the last thing Canadians need and if the NDP-Liberal government is re-elected, we know that is exactly what they will do.
The government must accept that their experiments of legalization and taxpayer-funded hard drugs have failed and end these programs now before more lives are lost. Only Common Sense Conservatives will ban hard drugs and invest in treatment and recovery to bring home our loved ones drug free.
