Report From Parliament Hill:
Eric Melillo, MP, Kenora Riding
Dear Constituents,
I’m worried about Canada’s economic future.
The Parliamentary Budget Officer has released a report finding that Canada could be running budget deficits until 2070, if current spending doesn’t change. This reckless Liberal spending puts Canada’s public services at risk, creating the possibility that future generations will not be able to rely on the public healthcare and social services that Canadians pride themselves on.
That’s why the Conservatives are calling for a sensible approach. We’ll support the hardest-hit industries that still need help to recover and continue to create jobs. But as we help Canadians through this economic crisis, we’ll also get spending under control and work to return to balance.
If we want to get our economy back on track, our top priority is getting Canadians back to work. That’s why a Conservative government would create incentives for Canadians to re-open, rebuild, invest, in and start businesses. And why we’ll give a hand up to sectors like tourism, transportation, and hospitality - which have been devastated by border closures and travel restrictions - to allow them to continue to serve and employ Canadians.
We’ll stimulate economic growth, while making life affordable for Canadians. That includes making home ownership more attainable – instead of the distant dream it is for many young people today.
When Canadians are doing well and our economy is thriving, our country’s future will be secure. And Conservatives will safeguard our long-term future by spending responsibly and balancing the budget within the next ten years.
A Conservative government will help all Canadians prosper, and ensure Canada’s social safety net remains secure for generations to come.
