Report From Parliament Hill:
Eric Melillo, MP, Kenora Riding
Dear Constituents,
This week I was in Ottawa for caucus meetings to discuss our priorities going into the 44th Parliament.
The Conservative caucus is united around a common goal: holding the Trudeau government to account while advocating for real results in our communities.
There is much work to be done, whether it’s supporting small business recovery, ensuring clean water for Indigenous communities, or helping our local industries thrive through challenging times. I’m looking forward to being back in the House of Commons to fight for our region.
Unfortunately, the unnecessary election Prime Minister Trudeau called this summer has put many of these priorities on the backburner. Conservatives have been eager for the House of Commons to resume so we can get back to work – in fact, we called on the government to bring the House back even sooner.
Life doesn’t stop when the government is in caretaker mode, and I know many Canadians are anxious to hear what their representatives will do to recover our economy, make life more affordable, and help our communities build back stronger.
That is what Conservatives will be fighting for as the Official Opposition. I’m confident that when Parliament sits next week, we’ll be ready to hit the ground running.
Supporting British Columbia
I’m very concerned by the situation in British Columbia, where massive flooding has caused tragic loss of life, a supply chain crisis, and potentially billions of dollars in damage. We in Northern Ontario know well how devastating natural disasters can be, and I know all of our hearts go out to the people of B.C. right now.
I’ve heard from my Parliamentary colleagues from B.C., and I know this crisis will be an immediate priority when Parliament resumes on Monday.
Anyone who would like to help is encouraged to donate to the Canadian Red Cross.
