Report From Parliament Hill
Eric Melillo, MP, Kenora Riding
Dear Constituents,
I recently enjoyed the opportunity to visit Pickle Lake to meet with Mayor Monck about municipal priorities.
I later joined Mayor Monck for an informative tour of the Auteco gold drilling site in Pickle Crow. I appreciated speaking to workers to learn how this facility safely provides access to our valuable natural resources while creating jobs for residents.
As we prepare for Parliament to resume in the fall, I have been making a point of visiting as many communities in the Kenora riding as possible. I’ve had many valuable conversations over the past few weeks, which will guide me in standing up for families, workers, and business owners in Northwestern Ontario, not to mention the industries that contribute so much to our economy.
Making Life Affordable
Last week, the Conservative Party called on the government to take immediate action to address skyrocketing cost of living.
Inflation is at its highest rate in twenty years, and food prices have shot up almost 4% in the last year alone. Canadians are struggling to feed their families, and seniors, low-income people, and rural and Northern communities are among the most vulnerable.
We are urging the government to take the necessary steps to reduce inflation and prices of necessities, support farmers and food producers, and lower cost of living for Canadians.
Conservatives have been proposing practical solutions to protect the supply chain and reduce the cost of food for Canadians. This includes removing barriers to recruiting seasonal workers to harvest crops, ensuring supply managed sectors are compensated for recent concessions that were made in trade deals, and improving programs to increase food security in northern communities. And in the previous session of Parliament, we successfully fought to exempt farmers from the carbon tax.
Conservatives will stand up for Canadians
