Science fun!
Superior Science visited Sacred Heart School (SHS) on June 20, sharing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines in fun ways with grades 3 to 6 students.
Operating out of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay as part of the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies, Superior Science has been making learning about STEM disciplines fun for students in Thunder Bay, and throughout the region, for 20 years.
The program is run by undergraduate students, who worked with students at SHS to build and test a chair made of newspapers, create Chia Pets, build a tower out of pool noodles and crash test race cars.
“The students have all been really excited with what we’re doing… and I think everybody has enjoyed themselves,” Superior Science director Michael Coccimiglio shared.
