Time to lace up those skates!
Those looking for a chance to get some outdoor ice time have several options now that outdoor community ice skating rinks in Sioux Lookout and Hudson are once again open for use throughout the winter.
As Brian P. MacKinnon, Sioux Lookout Manager of Corporate Services/ Municipal Clerk relates, both the rink on Third Avenue (located at the ball diamonds) in Sioux Lookout and the Hudson rink (located next to the ball diamonds) are open and ready for skaters.
Sioux Lookout’s outdoor rink offers a winterized dugout to allow skaters some relief from the elements, while the Hudson outdoor rink offers the public the use of a warming shelter, which is open for use on the following dates and times: Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6-9 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., and closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. MacKinnon noted that when entering the Hudson rink warming shelter all current vaccination requirements must be met. MacKinnon also added that, in order to use the rinks, “All of the current COVID regulations and directives from the province are in place, including: maintaining two metres of physical distancing, maximum capacity of 10 persons (indoors) and 25 persons (outdoors) at any given time.”
The lights at the Sioux Lookout rink will be on from dusk until 10 p.m. every evening.
Use of the Sioux Lookout and Hudson outdoor rinks is free of charge.
