Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre celebrates staff
Mike Lawrence - Staff Writer
This past spring, Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) launched an initiative to showcase their team through an ongoing series of online Staff Profiles. With over 450 people working in over 15 departments, the project’s aim is to give the public a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations that make SLMHC’s many services possible. The project was started in April of 2021.
With a service area that covers the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Pickle Lake and Savant Lake, as well as 28 First Nation communities, SLMHC serves a population of approximately 30,000 people over 385,000 square kilometers.
Corporate Communication Officer Jesse Bonello stated, “COVID-19 has been challenging for the health care industry across Ontario and the entire country, especially when it comes to staffing and recruitment/retention efforts, so our staff profiles have been a great resource to not only show appreciation for our fantastic team but to also help people learn more about our various departments at SLMHC. We’ve been able to link the staff profiles to our career page to help provide a better understanding of our departments and roles here at SLMHC. It can be a great tool for applicants looking to find out more about opportunities here at SLMHC and the importance they have in providing health care excellence to our patients and clients.”
Bonello added, “It’s been so encouraging to see so many positive comments flood in as we post our staff profiles on our Facebook page.”
SLMHC President and CEO Heather Lee stated “We have such a dedicated and resilient team at SLMHC, who have gone above and beyond to ensure we can provide our patients access to so many crucial services and programs. Our staff profiles have been a great opportunity to acknowledge our team, who truly embrace our commitment to Excellence Every Time.”
Human Resources Manager Ramona Quequish-Baas added, “To provide the range of services we do at SLMHC it truly takes a dedicated and talented team of people. It’s important that we continue to showcase our amazing team, while encouraging other eager and bright health care professionals to join our talent pool, and the unique industry experience we provide.”
