Sioux Lookout Public Library’s Bucket List Challenge returns, encourages people to “get out and explore our community”

The Sioux Lookout Public Library’s Bucket List Challenge is back!
This is the Library’s second year hosting the challenge.
Nancy McCord, Assistant Librarian, shared, “It is comprised of many fun activities that are available to locals and visitors to our area during the winter months, but this challenge acts as a motivator to engage in all eleven of them.
“We feel that this is a great way to get out and explore our community and the wonderful things it has to offer. Whether you grew up in the Sioux Lookout area, or have recently moved here, we feel like these challenges will help to teach or remind people about some of the uniqueness our community has to offer.”
This year’s Bucket List Challenge includes such things as trying your hand at curling (indoors or outdoors), visiting the horses at Cedar Bay, enjoying a hot chocolate at the Cozy Cabin at the Cedar Bay lakeshore, going ice fishing, attending a Bombers game, or taking a photo at the giant frame by the Travel Information Centre.
The full list of challenges can be found on the Sioux Lookout Public Library’s Facebook page.
“Our contest will run from January 11th through until February 29th,, 2024 to allow people ample time to complete the activities on the list,” McCord informed, adding, “A person does not have to complete all of the Bucket List items in order to enter the draw. When one item on the list has been completed, you may e-mail a photo of the completed activity to [email protected] or you may go to the Sioux Lookout Public Library Facebook page and comment on the challenge with your photo. Each completed item will earn the participants a ballot into our draw which will take place on March 4th.”
McCord said Bucket List Challenge prizes were picked specifically for this event as they are “local” prizes. “Our 1st prize is a local history book trilogy ‘Tracks Beside the Water’. Volume I is a digital copy and Volumes II & III are both in a hard cover format. Our 2nd prize is a trilogy of adult paperback books written by local author, Ardelle Holden.”
McCord concluded, “We look forward to seeing the photos of people out enjoying our beautiful community. If there are any questions, please feel free to stop by the Library during regular business hours, call
us at (807) 737-3660, or email [email protected].
Have fun!”
