Sioux Lookout remembers
Community members gathered at the Edwin Switzer Memorial, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78, as well as at the cenotaph at the town beach, for Remembrance Day services in Sioux Lookout on Nov. 11.
The service at the Legion included the singing of O Canada and God Save the King, the playing of the Last Post, two minutes of silence followed by Reveille, the laying of wreaths, and a special slideshow commemorating the service of Sioux Lookout’s veterans.
Legion President Kirk Drew shared following the service, “Today was excellent. We had a real good turnout.”
Drew shared that new banners installed along Front Street featuring the names and photos of Sioux Lookout residents who lost their lives in the Second World War, and the renaming of a portion of Front Street in front of the Legion to Valour Way (approved by Municipal council in August), were both projects the Legion had been wanting to get done for some time.
