Sioux Lookout Scouts learn wilderness survival skills

Sioux Lookout Scouts took advantage of last Saturday’s warm weather to spend a day outdoors at Camp Mitchell.
Scout leaders Jeremy Funk and John Coulombe taught the Scouts how to make and maintain a fire in the winter, first aid skills such as how to apply a splint, and other wilderness survival skills.
Scouts also pulled a sled up a hill using a pulley, learning to use mechanical advantages to accomplish tasks quicker and easier.
Scouts also participated in a Whiteout Walk, navigating a rope course while blindfolded.
“It was fun,” beamed Scout Carson Pettit.
“It’s pretty great. It’s the best program,” fellow Scout Hayden Price echoed.
