Sioux Mountain Public School Valedictory Address
Kyra Visitor - Valedictorian
Hello I’m Kyra Visitor. I want to thank the staff members, guardians, families, and all the distinguished guests who have joined our 2023 Grade 8 graduation ceremony. We are all choosing paths for the future and moving forward in life. But we shouldn’t forget the journey that took us here and what made us the wonderful people we are today. We also shouldn’t forget how our guardians and staff members helped guide us to today.
I had amazing teachers who all taught me math, science, history, and many other subjects.
Mr. Town was always patient with us on different subjects. I remembered being happy with how he gave our classroom an inviting feel to it when I first came here. I can’t remember any time when he was mad at us. Mr. Searle was a great teacher, he knew to have fun but also get things done. At school, if not teaching us you could always see him watching basketball clips or talking to Mr Murry about basketball. Mrs. Cosco treated us kindly, she created a safe environment for us to learn and have fun. We did lots of contests and fun class games. She taught us to express ourselves and every day after class we would write in a small journal she gave us. She was also very helpful in pathways and making us think about our future. Mr. Mahoney was a giant help as well in pathways. He made us think about what we want in life and the direction we want to head in. He always made everyone feel comfortable and welcome to talk about what we want out of life.
Mr. Tennyson was patient with us, especially with my homework. This year I had him, and he is a great teacher. He helped me better my knowledge in math, science, and history along with other various school subjects. I learned to be more independent with things but also know when to ask for help.
Mrs. O’Connor, who is our librarian was kind to everyone. She is very big on manners and it’s a good thing to get in the habit of doing. She gave me book recommendations when I was working on writing for the school paper. Mrs.Dumonski has done a lot for us when you have questions about stuff she is always there to help. She created such a nice and relaxing environment for after-school activities and clubs. I learned so much from my second language teacher. Ms.Martin Asmus taught me everything I know about French. She helped me a lot with editing when I was working on the school paper, she was always positive on stuff. Mrs. Kakigamic was always ready to help when we needed it in class. She always had a smile on her face and was positive in class. I would like a moment to thank the principal and vice principal for always being there for us. Every day no matter what they would say good morning and bring a happy vibe to you when you need it.
We have created wonderful memories throughout elementary without even knowing it. For me, it was when I and a couple of my friends went to the OELC camp at the start of the year. I felt a giant sense of community while staying there. In the end, we will all miss elementary school and the people that we got close to while learning. But we are getting older and should be excited about a change as big as this. We are all going to have new and exciting opportunities while in high school.
I would also like to give a big thank you to my family and my friends
My mom and dad were always there for me. My brother pushed me to be my best.
Congrats fellow graduates. We are done with elementary.
