Sioux North High School hosts Treaties Recognition Week Opening Ceremonies

Sioux North High School helped kick off Treaties Recognition Week in the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (KPDSB) by hosting the opening ceremonies on Nov. 4.
The opening ceremonies included prayers from Elders Robert and Patti Keesic. Lac Seul First Nation Chief Derek Maud (pictured, at podium), KPDSB Trustee Eric Bortlis, and Elder Robert Greene were guest speakers.
Treaties Recognition Week is November 4-8 across Ontario.
The KPDSB shared, “Treaties Recognition Week is an opportunity for all Ontarians to gain a better understanding of treaties and treaty relationships, and how they have shaped the province. Treaties have played an integral part in the history and heritage of Ontario.”
