Sizzling good times: Shriners BBQ ignites flavour at Blueberry Festival

The Sioux Lookout Shrine Club’s BBQ on Saturday August 12 was just one of several BBQs hosted by the club during this year’s Blueberry Festival.
BJ Egerter, Sioux Lookout Shrine Club President, commented that all the Shriner’s barbecues went fantastically and were a great success, “The community is always good at supporting the Shrine Club.”
Egerter said that they raise money every year for the Shriners Hospital.
“We love doing this. Mark Palmer and Ross Sillery are Shriners from Kenora and drove in at 6:30 a.m. at their own expense just to help us raise money for charity at this BBQ. Volunteers who aren’t Shriners, who aren’t Masons, families with kids, everybody involved puts in the effort,” he said.
He said the fries the club served at this year’s BBQs were a hit.
“We also did an extra BBQ for the Fireman’s Social, that also was an amazing turnout as well. It was a very long night for all of us but was totally worth it,” Egerter concluded.
