SLFNHA health care worker tests positive for COVID-19

Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) is advising that one of its health care workers has tested positive for COVID-19.
The organization shared on Sunday evening, on Facebook, that it was notified by the Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) that day that a SLFNHA health care worker had tested positive for COVID-19.
SLFNHA informed that the worker is asymptomatic and that, “The case was detected as part of the routine screening done prior to travel to one of the communities served by SLFNHA. At the moment, there are no known implications for any of the communities served by SLFNHA.”
The individual is self-isolating in Sioux Lookout and contact tracing is being done by the NWHU.
The case is in addition to a new case reported on August 23 by the NWHU in the Dryden/Red Lake area.
“This reinforces that we have a continued low level of viral activity in our region. SLFNHA recommends that public health measures continue to be maintained. This includes: physical distancing, handwashing and wearing masks/face covering in public where physical distancing cannot be maintained, staying in our bubbles as much as possible and avoiding unnecessary travel.
“We continue to remind ourselves that anyone with symptoms should present for assessment as soon as is feasible,”
