A celebration of curling is taking place on Feb. 25 at the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club and the community is invited to be part of it.
Feb. 25 is Curling Day in Canada and the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club will be hosting events between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The club shared in promotion of the event, “Do you enjoy curling? Bring a friend or new curler! Never tried curling? Now’s your chance!
People will be able to play doubles, stick curling or 4-person curling. If people bring a new curler they will have a chance to win a door prize. Table-top curling games and a curling trivia contest are also part of the day’s activities.
A special Draw to the Button will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
JoAnne Van Horne, Northern Ontario Curling Association Club Delegate, shared, “We would like to promote curling, promote our club, and Curling Day in Canada is a great opportunity to get people into the club, those who know how to curl and those who would like to learn how to curl or just learn about the sport. Curling Day in Canada is widely promoted across Canada on their website (https://www.curlingdayincanada.ca/) and they have some great ideas that all clubs can do.”
“The big one that day is the draw to the button, of course,” she added. “We’re hoping people come up there. Everything’s free and we’re going to videotape it and submit it to Curling Canada and we have a chance to win $5000 for our club.”
