SLGCC hosts annual 27 hole Ironman golf tournament

Approximately 40 golfers participated in this year’s annual Ironman 27 Hole Tournament at the Sioux Lookout Golf & Curling Club on July 13.
In teams of two, with two flights using the lowest handicap of the team, golfers participated in three rounds of nine holes.
Golfers shared that they had fun participating in the tournament while enjoying the summer weather.
“It’s good. Great weather and it’s kind of a long haul so just taking it hole by hole. I would play this tournament again,” said Jenna Poirier.
“We think it’s a blast. It’s great exercise. We like to carry our bags and make it a true ironman. It’s fun. We like to be out here supporting the club whenever we get a chance,” said Glen Poirier.
“It’s been good. The weather is beautiful, and we enjoy going out golfing,” said Ron Machimity.
Cash prizes were awarded for the lowest net and gross scores in both flights, along with hole competitions where golfers could also earn cash prizes.
In the first flight, the lowest net score was the daughter and father team of Jenna and Glen Poirier, earning them a cash prize of $120. The second lowest net score was the team of Donny Farara and George Sakchekapo, earning them a cash prize of $80.
The lowest gross score was the team of Cortez Favot and Dylan Husak, which netted them a cash prize of $120. The second lowest gross score was the team of Ryan Dasno and Aaron Murray, which earned them $80.
In the second flight, the lowest net score was the team of Tanya Tekavcic and Leslie Cripps, earning them a cash prize of $120. The second lowest net score was the team of Wilfred and Fran Machimity, earning them a cash prize of $80.
The lowest gross score was the team of Jim Kusik and Allen Trout, which netted them a cash prize of $120. The second lowest gross score was the team of Bryan and Bruce Legros, which earned them $80.
Winning the putting total was Charlie Roy, which earned him a cash prize of $140.
The Closest to the Hole #2 winner was Glen Poirier. The Closest to the Hole #4 winner was Leslie Cripps. The Closest to the Hole #8 winner was Allen Trout. The Closest to the Line #5 winner was Ron Machimity. The Longest Drive #3 winner was Linda Magotte, and the Longest Drive #9 winner was Barry McLoughlin.
