The Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club (SLGCC) opened their nine-hole course to begin this year’s long-awaited golfing season on May 22.
Golf courses and many outdoor recreational amenities were allowed to reopen on May 22, with restrictions in place such as the need to maintain physical distancing, as part of the provincial government’s Three-Step Roadmap to safely reopen the province, announced on May 20.
SLGCC Manager Sheila Suprovich shared, “All our members were excited to finally be able to use the course during the May long weekend. Even though it rained opening day, we still saw quite a few dedicated golfers.” She added, “ We have seen an average of 103 golfers per day, most of which are going out for multiple rounds.”
Suprovich shared that anyone renting carts must reside in the same household, or wear a mask while riding with a partner. SLGCC has also recently introduced a newsletter called Bogey Business, with information including new services, sales, and tournaments. The newsletter can be accessed at www.slgcc.com.
Suprovich is planning to start ladies and men’s twilights this week.
She added that under the current COVID-19 restrictions, the club’s restaurant would only be open for take-out, with hopes to reopen the patio in limited capacity on June 14.
