SLSC members shine at Thunder Bay Open competition

More than a dozen skaters represented the Sioux Lookout Skating Club at this year’s Thunder Bay Open competition, March 6-8.
Head Coach Lynn Traviss-Thompson shared, “It went very well. For a number of the kids it was their first competition, so we had to battle nerves, stress, but they all did really well.”
“There was the free skate event, which was their solo, then there are elements events where they do one element, creative improve, where they haven’t heard the music until they get there, then they create it, and then artistic skating,” she added.
Star 1 – 4 skaters earned 13 bronze, one silver and four gold medals.
Three skaters, from six to gold level, earned four medals.
Competing skaters included Emma Perreault, Leta and Adelade Meekis, Sunny and Omi Sakamoto, Leia, Megan, and Khole Carter, Rhyah Gosse, Tessa Shurvall, Ruth Broderick Kailey Barnes, and Faye Mesich.
