SNHS hosts NORWOSSA badminton championship, three teams from school advance to NWOSSA

Sioux North High School (SNHS) hosted the NORWOSSA badminton championship on April 16 and three teams from the school have advanced to NWOSSA.
Joining teams from Sioux North High School at the event, which took place at both the school and the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre, were teams from St. Thomas Aquinas High School from Kenora, Beaver Brae Secondary School, also from Kenora, Northern Lake K-12 School from Atikokan, Rainy River High School, Red Lake High School, Dryden High School, and Fort Frances High School.
Junior and senior teams competed in boys and girls singles competition, boys and girls doubles competition, and mixed doubles competition.
Moving on to the NWOSSA championship in Thunder Bay on April 23 from Sioux North High School are Ryder Boissonneault and Alysa Rhone - Senior Mixed Doubles, Alex Agustin and King Talingdan - Senior Boys Doubles, and Reese Sitar and Brayden Gale Mixed Junior Doubles.
Sioux North High School Athletic Director Jason MacMillan explained that if either of the senior teams from the school can place in the top two, they will punch their ticket to OFSAA, the provincial championship.
“We’ve had a lot of juniors come out this year,” MacMillan stated, adding, “Badminton has been a pretty successful program in the last few years.”
