SNHS recognizes students’ athletic achievements

Sioux North High School (SNHS) recognized the athletic accomplishments of its athletes during a special awards ceremony on June 8 at the school.
SNHS Athletic Director Janine Lavoie said before helping hand out the 2022-2023 atheltic awards, “This year was fantastic. It was great to get back to regular competitions and have fans in the stands… It was really nice to see excitement back in the gym for our sports.”
Jr Boys Athlete of the Year nominees were: Cohl Elliott, Evan Burch, Ryder Boissoneault, Tyson Vincent, Weston Chabbert, and Hunter Atwood.
Sr Boys Athlete of the Year nominees were: Alex Agustin, Chase Favot, Marek Mckay, Sean Cole, and Zac Lance.
Jr Girls Athlete of the Year nominees were: Addyson Favot, Adelaide Meekis, Cassey Turallo, Emma Bates, Gianna Carnochan, Jessica Macmillan, and Nellie Angeconeb.
Sr Girls Athlete of the Year nominees were: Ava Crowe, Ava Hoppe, Jaeda Kitchkeesick, Mckenna Murphy, Sophia Legary, and Naomi Mousseau.
Jr Boys Athlete of the Year, Grade 10 student Cohl Elliott said, “I think it was a great year. We won NorWOSSA twice, the junior boys for basketball and volleyball.”
Jr Girls Athlete of the Year, Grade 9 student Addyson Favot said it was a good experience being a Warrior this past school year.
Sr Boys Athlete of the Year, Grade 12 student Zac Lance, commented, “I found myself in a lot of leadership roles (this year). I love playing for this school.”
Sr Girls Athlete of the Year Grade 12 student Naomi Mousseau, said of being a Warrior this past season, “It was fun… made a lot of new friends.”
