Thirty-three riders went Snowmobiling for Easter Seals Kids in this year’s 15th Sioux Lookout-Hudson, Red Lake Snowarama.
The fundraising event to help children and youth with physical disabilities began and concluded at the Ojibway Power Toboggan Association (OPTA) clubhouse on Abram Lake Road.
Participants from Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Dryden, Red Lake, and Lac Seul First Nation made a 100 kilometre round-trip ride onto Lac Seul, enjoyed a bonfire, hot dogs, and each other’s company during the social fundraising event.
Participants were accompanied on their ride by members of the Lac Seul Police Service.
Even co-coordinators Tracey Ellek and Mike Starratt said the event was a success with more riders and more money raised this year.
This year’s event raised over $13,000 with more money coming in online. Funds raised will support Easter Seals Kids in our region.
“I think it was great for all the riders to get out there… I think everyone was excited to ride,” Ellek said.
“It was a perfect snowmobiling day,” Starratt added.
The event was supported locally by Tim Hortons, Fresh Market Foods, Your Dollar Store With More, The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout, Lakeside Marina, Sioux-Per Auto Parts, Red Lake Marine, and Lac Seul Floating Lodges.
Starratt shared on his Facebook Page, Mike’s Winter Wonderland, “Thank you to the Lac Seul Police Service for their years of participation and to the Ojibway Power Toboggan Association for the use of the clubhouse.”
