Canada Summer Jobs created 70,000 jobs for young Canadians last year
Bob Nault, Kenora MP
The Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament (Kenora riding) released the following statement regarding the Canada Summer Jobs program. “Last summer, more than 70,000 jobs for young Canadians were created thanks to funding from the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. This is in line with the Government of Canada’s commitment to double the number of summer jobs from over 34,000 in 2015 and consistent with the nearly 70,000 jobs created in 2016 and 2017, and more than 70,000 in 2018.
“Locally, 177 additional jobs were created for young people throughout the Kenora riding, with a total investment of $486,293. These jobs helped young people gain the education, skills and experience they need to join the workforce, which will help them launce meaningful careers in the future.
“This year, Canada Summer Jobs 2019 has made changes that will make it easier than ever for youth to access good quality jobs. The program has been opened to youth who will not be attending post-secondary school and all available positions will be posted on jobbank.ca and on the mobile app, to help match young people with employers and good quality jobs.
“This summer, I look forward to visiting communities throughout the riding and personally speaking with some of these Canada Summer Jobs employees and employers.”
