Speed Knitting / Crochet Contest
Community members and visitors to town were invited to grab their knitting needles or crochet hooks and drop by Drayton Cash and Carry on August 3 to take part in a Speed Knitting / Crochet Contest sponsored by the store.
Drayton Cash and Carry Owner Dorothy Broderick said this was the third year the store has run the event, “The idea came from some knitters talking about a contest at a fibre festival. We thought it would be fun to have one here, so I started it when I had an opportunity.”
Ten people participated in this year’s contest.
“The event went well,” Broderick added, further commenting, “It was good to see some younger people trying it out and doing well at it. I think everyone enjoyed themselves and the friendly competition.”
Winners were:
Level 2 crochet - Kirsten Barrett
Level 2 knitting - Ingrid Cummings
Level 1 knitting - Kayla Bonello
Under 20 years old
Level 2 crochet - Brooklyn Swartz
Level 1 knitting - Anna Walton
