Survey conducted as part of design phase of Front Street and Third Avenue Intersection Upgrade Project

Residents may have wondered about the appearance of survey stakes at the east end of Front Street in the Third Avenue area.

Municipal Public Works Manager Andrew Jewell was able to shed light on the matter, explaining, “This is a verification survey that is being conducted by our consultant, Keewatin-Aski Ltd., on behalf of the Municipality. It is to ensure that all infrastructure that will be incorporated into the design of the Front Street and Third Avenue Intersection Upgrade Project is within the Municipal road allowance.  The design phase for this project was approved by Council in the 2021 Capital Budget and Keewatin-Aski was awarded the engineering work.”

The Municipality shared that the survey is being conducted to, “have the project in a “shovel ready” state for potential funding opportunities that may arise in the future, and/or to be funded through long term debt, if that is Council’s decision. The expenditure to get the design-work completed was approved in the 2021 Capital Budget.” 

The scope of the Front Street and Third Avenue Intersection Upgrade Project includes infrastructure upgrades including watermain, sanitary sewermains, stormwater mains and all surface works.
