The Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club (SLGCC) held their last club run tournament of the season on September 11, their annual Shoot Out.
The 18 hole, four ball, best ball Shoot Out began with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and wrapped up around 4 p.m. with the two top teams evenly matched. Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club Manager Sheila Suprovich explained, “first place (was) a tad confusing...Team Sakchekapo and Team Waboose tied with a score of 58. They played Hole 9 as a playoff hole (tiebreaker). They again tied and replayed the hole, tied again. Played from the 100-yard mark and tied again. So ultimately, they played a playoff hole three times and tied each time. “
Suprovich added “Both teams decided to split the pot and call it a day…so they split $3,100 as first place was $1,800 and 2nd was $1,300.”
Team Sakchekapo was comprised of George Sakchekapo, Shane Sakchekapo, Gerson Agustin, and Marcus Lendrum. Team Waboose was Ryan Waboose, Mitch Simmons, Matt Gain, and John Madsen.
Third place was taken by Team Watelain with a prize of $1,000, fourth place was Team Hoey with a prize of $700, and fifth place went to Team Lund with a prize of $400.
Closest to the Hole on Hole 2 went to Bill Michaud, while Closest to the Hole on Hole 4 went to Shane Sakchekapo, and Closest to the Hole on Hole 8 went to Adam McCarty. The Longest Drive on Hole 9 was by Matt Gain.
Suprovich stated “All hole contest winners got swag bags from the pro-shop which included a hat, koozie, sleeve of balls, and tees.”
Seventy-two golfers took part in the event.
Suprovich finished off by adding, “Overall it was a great day. There was a bit of wind which came into
play through the entire tournament and added to the difficulty of play. Team Waboose were the defending champs and had a head-to-head match with Team Sakchekapo. Thanks to Ryan Dasno for helping to organize. The Club looks forward to hosting the event again next year.”
SLGCC also recently held their annual members only Golf Championship
August 28- 29.
The Men’s Championship took place over two days, August 28-29, while the Woman’s Championship took place on August 29. Matt Gain was the Men’s overall Champion, and Tanya Tekavic was the Woman’s overall Champion.
