Three people charged after police execute warrant at Webequie First Nation residence

Three Webequie First Nation residents are facing drug related charges following a search by police of a Webequie First Nation home on Feb. 3.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed the search warrant at a residential address in Webequie First Nation in the morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 3.
Nishnawbe Aski Police Service informed in a Feb. 4 media release that the warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity from that home.
“As a result of the search, police seized a quantity of cocaine and cash suspected to be linked to drug trafficking activity. Currency seized is believed to exceed $5,000 CAD,” police shared.
Police inform that three suspects were arrested without incident.
Two women from Webequie First Nation, ages 30- and 33-years old, are charged with:
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
A 27-year-old Webequie First Nation man is charged with:
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
All three suspects were released with conditions and future court appearance dates.
Three people have pleaded guilty to charges laid against them in relation to an incident which occurred in the fall of 2022 on Lac Seul.,,
