Two arrests made in relation to Aug. 16 weapons incident

Two arrests have been made in relation to a weapons incident which took place on August 16 in Sioux Lookout.
A suspect that police released images of last week, “is still outstanding and unidentified” and police continue to ask anyone with any additional information or video footage regarding this ongoing investigation to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Ontario Provincial Police shared in an August 23 media release that, “Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sioux Lookout Detachment, with support from the Northwest Region Crime Unit (NWR Crime), Major Case Investigations Team (MCIT), Forensic Identification Services (FIS), Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), and Regional Support Team (RST) have made two arrests and seized two vehicles in relation to an active investigation into a weapons incident in the community of Sioux Lookout.”
Police confirmed no one was injured during the incident which occurred on the afternoon of Aug. 16 on Millar Crescent.
“Police have every indication that this was a targeted incident, with no active threat to public safety,” police shared, adding, “Investigators want to assure the public that OPP officers are fully committed to ensuring public safety and will continue to employ all necessary resources to make certain this incident is thoroughly investigated and the community remains safe. To this end, this investigation remains ongoing at this time.”
“The OPP reminds members of the public to always be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity to police,” police noted.
