On Nov. 7, 70 members of Unifor Local 324-12 in Dryden voted 93 per cent in favour, and 45 members of Unifor Local 324-16 in Sioux Lookout voted 100 per cent in favour of two new collective agreements with Community Living Dryden-Sioux Lookout.
Community Living Dryden-Sioux Lookout provides all levels of support for individuals with developmental disabilities living in both Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
Stephen Boon, Unifor National Representative shared, “Despite province wide funding cuts and ongoing austerity measures, we were pleased to have once again secured solid contracts for 115 Unifor members at Community Living Dryden-Sioux Lookout. Our members understand the provincial funding challenges in the sector and were clearly pleased to secure fair contract improvements while still maintaining a very cooperative working relationship with CLD-SL Management.”
According to a news release issued by Unifor, “Both deals provide 1.5 per cent, 1.5 per cent and 1.5 per cent annual wage increases, a new single staffing $.50/hour premium, improved bereavement leave, expanded paid personal leave and a number of key language improvements. The new contracts will be in place from September 2, 2019 to September 1, 2022. Unifor represents over 315,000 members across Canada in 20 economic sectors and roughly 8,000 members across Northwestern Ontario.”
