Anne Rae, who is from Sioux Lookout, was on what she thought was a regular drive down Highway 72 to Dryden on April 27, until she saw a rescue effort to help an adult moose that had managed to get stuck in mud at Moose Creek.
Rae immediately began taking photos and video of the efforts, which ended up being successful.
With the help of five men, some ropes, and some logs, the moose was freed from the mud where it then made its way back into the bush.
“I was excited. I really enjoyed that moment and being able to see all of that and see those men working really hard to get that moose free. It was an awesome sight to see,” said Rae.
“It’s amazing. There are some good people out there and this video and these men told that. It was awesome to see,” she added.
The video has since had over 950 views on her personal Facebook page and was also featured on the CBC News website. A link to the online CBC News story was shared in the Sioux Lookout & Area Events & Services Facebook group where it has received over 90 likes, over 60 shares, and 20 comments.
“It was exciting during that time and it’s nice to see that people really enjoyed that. It’s a feel-good situation,” said Rae.
“I thank those men that were helping the moose. They did all the work,” she concluded.
