Wasaya Airways has appointed James Ward as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.
Ward brings 15 years of experience working with First Nation communities to the position and has worked 10 years of his career with Wasaya Airways.
Ward has been CEO for Happy Time Tours, HT Leasing and Carrick Express and is a Director on the Board of Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and to have the trust of the Wasaya Chiefs, EIC and Board,” Ward commented in a July 28 news release issued by Wasaya Airways. “I look forward to sharing my vision of the airline with the talented Wasaya team and the valued community members. Exciting times ahead,” he further stated.
Ward takes over from former President and CEO Tom Morris, who recently announced his retirement after 16 years in the position.
“Tom was key in building strong working relationships with all our communities and was tremendously proud of Wasaya. His knowledge of the aviation industry and commitment to working for the north will be missed. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, we thank Tom for his dedication, leadership and service to the airline and wish him a well-deserved and enjoyable retirement,” Luke Reynolds, Chairman of the Wasaya Board concluded.
