Whitefish Bay man facing multiple firearms charges

A Whitefish Bay resident is facing several firearms charges after members of the Lac Seul Police Service were dispatched on Jan. 9 to a report of a firearm being discharged near a residence in Whitefish Bay, Lac Seul.
Police shared in a news release that, “Upon their arrival, officers learned that someone had used their high-caliber rifle to shoot and kill a dog in a residential area. There were no injuries sustained to the occupants of the residence.”
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Whitefish Bay man has been charged with:
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm S. 91(1) of the Criminal Code
• Careless use of a firearm S. 86(1) of the Criminal Code
• Careless storage of Firearm S. 86(1) of the Criminal Code
• Killing or injuring animals S. 445(1)(a)) of the Criminal Code
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on February 23 in Lac Seul Court to answer the charges.
