Collision leads to impaired charges by Pickle Lake OPP

Two individuals are facing charges following a motor vehicle collision on Highway 599.
“On January 15, 2024, shortly after 5:30 a.m., members of the Pickle Lake OPP Detachment responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 599. There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision,” Ontario Provincial Police shared.
“Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Pickle Lake OPP Detachment for further testing,” Police informed.
As a result, a 39-year-old from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA) with:
- Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice
- Have Care or Control of Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
- Having Care of Control of Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
- Drive Motor Vehicle - No Licence
A 29-year-old individual from Sioux Lookout was arrested and charged under the LLCA with Having Liquor in Open Container in Unauthorized Place.
