Culture Days in Sioux Lookout, running from Sept. 20 – Sept. 30, kicked off with a Culture Days Youth Concert on Sept. 20 at the Edwin Switzer, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78.
The evening featured several performers from the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre’s Multi-Cultural Youth Music Program.
The evening’s line-up included performances by Marius Madsen and Liam Salter, Isla Edwards accompanied by Music Program Coordinator Tommy Kuzemczak, Emilia Blandon Michelizzi, Ten String Army – a band comprised of Mac Laverty-Hansen and father Mike Laverty, and Skin ‘N’ Bones, with special guest performances by community members Patty Everson and Brad Hyslop.
Kenora based singer/songwriter Reilly Scott, a former Sioux Lookout resident, headlined the event. A folk musician, Scott said it was while living in Sioux Lookout from 2012 – 2015 that she first started writing songs.
She shared, “I was so happy to watch such talented developing performers emerge. They were great!”
