Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged two young men found breaking into vehicles at the Deception boat launch and landing on Lac Seul in the early morning hours of July 6.

It may sound like a cliché, but to fire boss Eric Hansen, looking for a downed charter plane in the bush between Sioux Lookout and Ignace was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Fortunately for the five passengers who survived Saturday’s crash, Hansen found it.

Specialists say equipment failure a safety hazard
The Sioux Lookout airport flight services station’s very high frequency (VHF) direction finder is on the blink, leaving the flight services specialists with almost no way to bring in a lost pilot, or pinpoint an aircraft’s location.
