Starting October 1, members of the public once again are able to access the gymnasium, cardio room, squash court, and walking track at the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre.
The Municipality of Sioux Lookout explained this is the first phase of reopening the Recreation Centre, which has been closed since June for upgrades and improvements.
“While we are thrilled to welcome the community back to these areas, please note that the changerooms, lockers, and weight room will remain closed at this time. We expect these areas to reopen very soon, and updates will be provided as they become available,” the Municipality informed in a Sept. 27 media release, adding, “The reopening has been carefully planned to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all users while we continue to finalize the work on the remaining areas of the facility.”
Meredith Culham, Manager of Recreation and Culture shared, “We are eager to welcome our community back, starting with our gymnasium and some fitness areas. The improvements we’ve made will enhance everyone’s experience, and we’re committed to reopening the rest of the facility very soon.”
“Additionally, membership packages are currently available for pickup by new and existing members. These packages will provide details about the new procedures for accessing the facility, as well as other important information on how to use our amenities. Members are welcome to stop in Monday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. to pick up their membership package and help expedite their first visit back to our facility next week,” the Municipality shared.
