Mother’s Day Barbeque
Staff at Pelican High Peak Youth Healing Lodge hosted a free Mother’s Day Barbeque on May 10.
Treatment Services Manager Marty Nadon explained, “We here at the lodge, we want to recognize mothers and the work that they do. We know it’s a very difficult job. So, we try to do some kind of community event several times a year and we thought Mother’s Day was an important day.”
Pelican High Peak Youth Healing Lodge offers a 12-week residential program, with a capacity for six youth, which provides mental health and/or substance use healing to Indigenous youth aged 12-17, regardless of gender identity.
“For us, we have a lot of mothers that work here at the lodge. We take in kids so we want to celebrate parents and I think that’s always important to do,” Nadon added.
