Municipality urging people to be extra cautious if venturing out on area lakes

With a mix of warm temperatures and rain last week, the Municipality of Sioux Lookout is urging people to use extra caution if they plan to venture out on any area lakes.
In a social media post last Friday, the Municipality stated, “Ice on area lakes that may have been safe to walk on days ago may be too thin and dangerous to support your weight now. Use extra caution if you are venturing out on any area lakes.”
Sioux Lookout Fire Chief Jeremy Funk said the Municipal Fire Department has already received several calls related to ice rescue in and around Sioux Lookout this winter and urges people to be careful.
