Opening Ceremonies
Garba dancers (first photo) got the opening ceremonies for the 42nd Annual Blueberry Festival underway at noon on Friday, August 2 at the town beach.
Layla Emberley (second photo) sang O Canada, and Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance, Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamakwa and Kenora MP Eric Melillo brought greetings.
The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout presented the Jack McKenzie Award for outstanding volunteerism to Blueberry Festival President Dori Hopko.
(Third photo) Members of the Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival Committee and this year’s festival coordinator Kayleigh Bates, along with Lawrance, Mamakwa, and Melillo assisted Allan Pizziol, one of the founders of the festival, as he cut a ribbon to officially open this year’s Blueberry Festival.
