OPP Investigating death in Sioux Lookout

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit is investigating a death in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
Police shared in a May 12 media release that, “On May 10, 2024, members of the Sioux Lookout OPP received a report of an individual who had been transported to local hospital, where they later died.”
Police say they do not believe there is an imminent threat to public safety.
A post-mortem examination is to be conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to determine the cause of death.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have been in Sioux Lookout in the area of
Queen Street and Sixth Avenue on May 9 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., to contact the Sioux Lookout OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If people wish to remain anonymous, they may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
“The investigation by the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service,” police shared.
