OPP seize multiple firearms from local residence

Ontario Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout seized firearms and two prohibited weapons from a local residence as part of an ongoing investigation.
Police shared in a Dec. 19 media release, “On December 15, 2023, members of the Sioux Lookout OPP Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a local residence. During investigation, officers located a handgun, shotgun, two prohibited weapons, and ammunition, which were seized for public safety.”
A 46-year-old Ottawa resident was arrested and charged for multiple Criminal Code violations, including:
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, and
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition - two counts.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on January 30 to answer the charges.
A 40-year-old from Kingfisher Lake First Nation has been charged with assault and breaking and entering after Ontario Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout received multiple calls for service regarding a suspicious person around Park Street and Fair Street.
