Warriors fall 4-2 to visiting Muskies in closely played final regular season game

The Sioux North High School Warriors Boys Hockey Team was defeated 4-2 by the visiting Fort Frances High School Muskies in a close contest on Feb. 8 at the Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena.
The Muskies scored with less than 30 seconds left in a closely played first period to take a 1-0 lead.
The Warriors scored with 7:41 left in the second period to tie the game.
The Muskies answered back with 7:30 left to go ahead 2-1.
The muskies added one more goal before the period ended to take a 3-1 lead into the third period.
The Warriors scored about five minutes into the third period to get within a goal, 3-2.
The Warriors would get several good shots on net throughout the period but were not able to score.
The Muskies scored again with about five minutes left in the period and would go on to win the game 4-2.
Warriors Coach John Carnochan shared, “We had a really good start in the first period. Pucks deep and forcing their D. It looked good. We had a bit of a soft second period and that really was the difference in the game… all in all I was happy with our performance.”
The Warriors were seated 3rd in the league following the game, their last of the regular season.
Carnochan said the team will compete in the playoffs at the end of February in Fort Frances.
